January 8, 2013 (Pulaski, NY) – Before the Pulaski Early Learning Center
closed for business last year, the nonprofit decided to donate its
remaining assets to the Greater Pulaski Community Endowment Fund
(Pulaski Fund) and the United Way of Oswego County. The Central New York
Community Foundation, where the Pulaski Fund is housed, recently
received $32,000 from the Pulaski Early Learning Center to be added to
the Pulaski Fund.
The Pulaski Early Learning Center was committed to helping children
develop socially, physically, intellectually and emotionally through its
educational programs. This gift will allow the Pulaski Early Learning
Center’s mission to continue locally through the Pulaski Fund’s
grantmaking.
Additionally the Pulaski Fund raised $10,295 in its 2012 fundraising
drive. Gifts from individuals and business contributors helped the
Fund’s Advisory Committee attain $10,295 in matching dollars from the
John Ben Snow Memorial Trust, bringing the total raised this year to
$20,590.
The Greater Pulaski Community Endowment Fund was established in 1992 to
provide financial resources to nonprofit organizations serving the
Village of Pulaski and Town of Richland. Since its inception, the Fund
has supported the arts & culture, community development, education,
environment, health and human services programming of the area with more
than $200,000 in grants. In 2012, grants totaling $13,719 were awarded
to: CNY Fit for Kids, Half-Shire Historical Society, Northern Oswego
County Ambulance (NOCA), Pulaski Historical Society, Salmon River Fine
Arts Center and The Salmon River Festival.
The Fund was established as a union of gifts contributed by the people
of the Pulaski community. It makes grants to support programs and
projects of importance to the Pulaski area. Since inception, the John
Ben Snow Memorial Trust has been a great supporter in growing the Fund.
As a fundraising incentive to the Advisory Committee, the Trust has
matched contributions from individual and business donors for the past
14 years.
The Pulaski Fund is a component fund of the Central New York Community
Foundation. Established in 1927, the Central New York Community
Foundation encourages local philanthropy by supporting the growth of a
permanent charitable endowment for the betterment of the region. The
Community Foundation is the largest charitable foundation in the region
with assets of more than $130 million. It awards close to $6.7 million
in grants to nonprofit organizations annually and has invested more than
$100 million in the community since its inception. The Community
Foundation serves as the steward of charitable legacies for individuals,
families and corporations through the administration of nearly 600
funds. The organization also serves as a civic leader, convener and
sponsor of special initiatives designed to strengthen nonprofits that
address the region’s most pressing challenges. For more information,
