Non-profits ransacked, vandalized

www.cnycentral.com reported about damage and theft at the Determination Center of Central New York, which runs after school and GED programs out of the Catholic Charities building.

Watch the story here.

The staff there says they're always trying to do good for the community, but sometime between Sunday and Monday, something very bad happened there. The entire ground floor of the Catholic Charities building, including The Determination Center had been ransacked. Windows were broken, electronics stolen, and the thieves even stole all the food out of the center's refrigerators and freezer.

It's left the founder and her workers wondering why this happened when they're just trying to do good for the community.

Owner and founder Bettie Graham said, "They didn't take from me, they took from the kids. I don't have funding, I'm just trying to do something positive for the kids. They just came in and took everything."

The kids who attend The Determination Center had been fundraising for a trip to Darien Lake this summer. That money was also stolen.

Syracuse police say they don't have many leads, but anyone with information should call 442-5222.

To help The Determination Center, call 396-0148.
